Team Breamski Winning Report for Round 4 Shoalhaven River
Well what can I say except that we use to hate fishing the Shoalhaven, but now it’s becoming one of our favourite spots to fish, especially in a tournament.
I did a pre fish a few weeks prior and got some nice fish out on the front reefs, so our starting point was always going to be down the front. When we got there the current was raging compared to the pre fish I had done, so I had to think quick, and went out to the edges, which worked a treat with Jarrod getting two fish straight away, so I immediately hit the spot lock on the new XI5 Motorguide. This was first time using a Motorguide which was very silent, and the spot lock stayed right where we wanted it to stay.
Then with the big fish coming next at 36cm to the fork, and two more within the next hour, we had our bag of 5 before 9:30am. Our plastic of choice was the best Gulp Shrimp in the world on a 1/24oz Nitro jig head, just casting it into the pockets of sand in between the weed and little reef.
By now the current started to slow down so we got out in the front reefs again which was another good move and upgraded two more fish. We got another 5 just legal fish using 1/6th and 1/8th Nitro jigs heads with the Gulp shrimp again.
Well done to all the other Teams that placed as it wasn’t a very nice day.
I like to thank Big E and the BLF Committee for a well run comp and to all the competitors and sponsors that make these comps happen. Bring on Mallacoota.
