Hobie Fishing R3 Wrap Up.

There where 43 boating teams entered and 30 Kayak competitors involved. The morning was a very fresh start but with beautiful calm conditions, on what has always been a tough fishing arena, and proved to be again for most.The final winner in the Boating section was Team Need a Win with Paul Wilson & Liam Curruthers with a 5/5 bag totaling 3.450kg, second went to Team Salt N Fresh with Garry King & Shaun Johnson with a 5/5 bag totaling 3.250kg, third went to Team Garmin/Honda Marine with Steve Gill & Andrew Rae with a 5/5 bag totaling 3.140kg, forth went to Team Ecogear/Totally Immersed with Craig Coughlan & Jason Price with a 5/5 bag totaling 3.110kg and fifth went to Team Fish It with William Longani & Eric Faes with a 5/5 bag totaling 2.340kg. In the boating section only 7 Teams achieved their full bag of 5 fish and there where a total of 102 fish for a combined weight of 49.380kg for 85 anglers. The Austackle Big Bream prize was taken out by Shaun Johnson from Team Salt N Fresh with a very nice 1.030kg fish.The cash payouts for the Top 5 where: 1st $1,677, 2nd $838, 3rd $420, 4th $250 and 5th $168.

In the kayak section which doubled as the Hobie bream Series NSW State Title round with 4 Australian Championship qualifying spots on offer the pressure was on to catch a 3 Bream limit.The very consistent Team Prolure Australia – Luke Kay stepped up with a 3/3 bag totaling 1.690kg, second went to Eric Wood – with a 3/3 bag totaling 1.560kg who also took out the Austackle Big Bream prize with a solid 0.810kg fish and third went to Team Gladiator – Carl Dubois with a 3/3 bag totaling 1.390kg. As Simon Morley (4th place) had already qualified with a Hobie Fishing Bemm River win, it looks like his good mate Kane Terry will be happy with his fifth place. In the Kayaks there where a total of 44 fish for a combined weight of 19.460kg for 30 anglers. Cash payouts for the Top 3 where: 1st $750, 2nd $383 and 3rd $232.
