The club Information Night is held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month, and is held at St Georges Basin Community Centre, Meriton St starting at 7:30pm.These nights are used to teach and share methods such as knot tying, fly making, casting and retrieving. The information night’s are also valuable in sharing and informing members of catching “hotspots” and “in-form” plastics, lures and fly’s. Up to date information on new lure and fly’s available in the marketplace are also discussed during these nights. It is also a chance for members to arrange non-boating and boating partners, if needed, for the following weekend’s competition so experience and knowledge can be shared. The club competition is held on the weekend following the clubinformation night .
Ladies and Kids days are held during the warmer months which are a great success. This allows Ladies and Kids to catch fish on bait as well as lure and fly and is great to bring a family atmosphere to the club.
The club is a not-for-profit organisation with any money raised being returned to the Shoalhaven in the form of fish stocking and other general improvements to the water or recreational areas. The club is building their funds and constantly looking for worthy causes to support.
The Basin is a fabulous fishing estuary and many fish species such as Bream, Flathead, Tailor, Whiting, Estuary perch, Flounder, Trevally, Luderick, Salmon, Mullway, Tarwhine, Mullet and Snapper have been caught by members of Basin Lure and Fly in the past year.
